It has been developed using our RadioObjX and MapObjX software components. Contact us if you would like to construct an application, portal or site using such components.
The profile displays the radio line of sight and a user defined fraction of the 1st Fresnel zone between your chosen terminal coordinates and at your chosen terminal heights, at your chosen radio frequency and at your chosen Earth radius factor, k. It is useful in determining the path performance for VHF, UHF and SHF fixed radio links. A report is provided giving the terrain clearance with detail of the most sensitive point on the path and the available fade margin in dB. Click here for details of how the path loss is calculated. There are also suggestions there as to how to interpret the fade margin and relate this to path availability.
The coverage is constructed using a terrain model derived from data from the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission. Click here for details on this.
